1st day of preschool

I can't believe it, but Hudson started preschool today. He might be the cutest thing I've ever seen.

He loves all things Toy Story and begs to watch Toy Story 3 about 3-4 times a day. I found him a cute Toy Story book bag at Walmart for about $5!

Our "daddy's boy" will get a little quality time with Brett in the car as daddy drops him off each morning. And the wave goodbye with pop tart in hand...

DIY Headboard

A few months ago I made a tufted headboard for our guest bed, and I am already over it. Something like this would be just lovely...

Isn't it so pretty? However, the $300 price tag isn't too pretty.

And then I stumbled across this DIY copy cat:

Here is the step-by-step rundown. Genius.

The Weavers

Matt Whytsell took these family photos of us this past weekend at a wedding in Florida. Matt and I started our photography businesses together a couple of years ago. Needless to say, we've spent many hours learning together and sharing our self-taught skills with one another. He's awesome and just keeps getting better and better!

Embarrassing to admit, but this is our 1st picture of our family of 4. I love my boys so very much!

2 + 2

Last week, I found 2 vintage rocks glasses at a local thrift store for 25 cents each. I had to get them. They were decorated with a great silver lattice design that I just couldn't pass up. Well, today I found 2 more at that same thrift store! My set of 4 now sits pretty on my liquor tray...

For now, that little Greek key tray will do, but one day, I'd like to have a beautiful, fully stocked bar cart on display. I really like the gold and bamboo combo.

pretty iphone cases

I just love these iPhone cases from Dani Notes! They've been on my wish list for months. They are all so fun, and I love the monograms.

Not too long ago, I came across this DIY cover for a cheap fix.

Step 1: Get a clear case.

Step 2: Create a template through Microsoft or Photoshop and print. (Free wallpaper backgrounds can be found online.)

Step 3: Cut and insert.

How legit does it look? Must have.

I just love drum shades, and Shades of Light has the best and most unique selection around! I just love this first one for my breakfast nook.

coffee table upgrade

While thrifting a couple of weeks ago, I spotted this chow leg coffee table. I fell in love with it, and when I asked how much it was, they told me that I could just have it. FOR FREE! This coffee table would be the perfect addition to my living room, and once I could settle on a paint color, it would look great over the cowhide rug. I chose Valspar's City Chartreuse. It came out looking just as fabulous as I had envisioned. To top it off, my new pillows arrived! They tie the whole room together perfectly.

Dining Makeover

I recently sold our old dinning set. Now, it is time for something new...

Today, we are heading to Charlotte where I will pick up this table from Ikea.

Next thing on my list is a set of 4 chairs. I would like for them to be a bit more traditional than the table and they must have no cushions! (Hopefully that will allow for easy and quick cleanup after meals). AND I would like for them to be dirt cheap.

My plan is to paint the chairs a fun teal color... how pretty is this combo:

Hump Day Happenings

This week is going by especially slow for me. This morning, I took the boys to the flea market and out thrifting. Here are some great discoveries I made (please excuse the quality of my phone photos)...

You could totally do this:

With this:

Just needs 2 glass panels and a new paint job:

And these fun navy lamps - just imagine them with a lucite base instead of that tacky plastic gold one. They would really be amazing! Maybe my next project??

Flying Saucers!

Meet Liz Marie. I first came across her blog through a mutual friend, and now I am a faithful follower... always checking in to see what crafty thing she has going on!

A few months back she blogged about her eclectic plate wall art. How wonderful does it look?! I wish I had a fun space around my kitchen for a collage of plates. Go take a look at her blog - you'll especially love it if you appreciate the difference a good paint job has on an old dresser. She shares some awesome furniture revamps!

Here are some other fabulous plate walls that I've run across lately:

I love how unusual this layout is!
