Happy Halloween!

I have to admit that this year has been even more fun than last year. I've prepared myself that this may be the last year that I can choose our oldest son's costume, but that's okay. He is still easily pleased by simply driving past the pumpkin patch, and I'm savoring this last bit of pure innocence.

Also, a big thanks to the hubs for getting such a great shot. I'm usually the one behind the lens, so I treasure this image.

Hudson is a bug this year... and the cutest bug EVER at that! He is all boy and loves being outdoors playing in the dirt and finding bugs of all sorts. Here he is (minus his beanie and antennae):

Sweet baby Avery is a little giraffe this year. His best friend is Sophie the giraffe, so I found the costume to be quite fitting. Here is the precious pair:

I'm excited about trick or treating with the boys tonight. Hudson's actually old enough to really get into it this year. I'm thinking one of the newest perks of motherhood will be sneaking some of my children's candy. You can find me in the pantry raiding the jack-o-lantern pail for a midnight snack. :)

What's cookin'?

This weekend. My kitchen.

1. Broccoli Cheddar Biscuits -- a new family favorite. Using a muffin pan, I stretched each biscuit and filled each one with a mixture (already cooked together) of cream of chicken, broccoli and cheese. I baked it according to the biscuit instructions. Easy peasy and super quick!

2. Hot Dog Mummies -- one of Hudson's favorite Halloween treats!

3. Banana Bread -- an oldie but goodie. I put chocolate chips in mine and sprinkle it with powdered sugar. NEXT LEVEL. Trust me.

4. Sliced Baked Potatoes -- I found this idea on Pinterest, and it's a winner. I top mine with cheddar cheese and fresh chives from my herb garden. Garnish with a dollop of sour cream, and you're in for a real treat.

They're a little more traditional than what I'm going for these days, but they look pretty comfy and inviting. I can see one in my parents' house in a heartbeat!

painted side table

PHOTO: table (free), acrylic tray (thrifted for 50 cents), silhouette (me from childhood), orchid (thrifted for $1), 4 Pottery Barn coffee table books ($1 each from a yard sale), paper-mache bird (Bethany's booth at The Depot)

Often times when I get a piece of furniture that I don't really have a space for, I store it away in my garage with plans to eventually paint or resell it. This little guy had been collecting dust in my garage for a couple of months when I decided to give him a new paint job. I had one bad experience with oil-based paints a couple of years ago and had steered clear of them ever since. Well, I gave it another go this week and turned to Rustoleum's Smoke Gray.

The finish is perfect and high gloss (which I love). I actually rolled the table instead of using a brush, but I think I'll try it with a brush next time to compare the finished product. {I'm loving those PB books... they bring an autumnal palette to any space!}

All very thrifty finds here, but what's new? :) I don't have a place for the table as of now, so back to the garage it goes.

Rooms With A Lighthearted Touch

Today, we have a special post from Arcadian Lighting just for you:

Hi! I'm Susi, a writer over at Arcadian Lighting, a great resource for the latest in cool lighting trends. I'm so lucky to get to guest post at some of my favorite blogs, like A Newfound Treasure. Today's guest post is all about rooms that have a lighthearted touch. Color, pattern, whimsical design elements and even light fixtures all work together to create rooms that make you smile. Here are some of my favorites. Enjoy!
I love the planetary-like mobile in this living room that doesn't take itself too seriously. Modern furnishings and pops of color give this room a youthful feeling.
Pendant Lights Lighthearted Rooms
Bold contemporary artwork adds a lot of color in this dining room. The pops of color and hot design trends, like Roe Deer antlers, help make this contemporary space feel lighthearted.
Table Lamps Lighthearted Rooms
Scale can turn a pretty design element into something more fun and these oversized bloom decals do just that. The exaggerated length of the table lamp is another great detail found in this space.
Lighthearted Rooms Wall Lamps
Whimsical and brightly colored art is a great way to add a lighthearted touch to a room. The bold collage style frame draws the eye to the charming art above the sofa. Unexpected wall lights like this one can bring even more interest to art.
Wall Sconces Light Hearted Rooms
While this bedroom is minimalist and contemporary, the curtains give it a youthful feeling. The patchwork trees not only add color but are playful, too.
Lamps Lighthearted Rooms
This kid-friendly living room is modern and whimsical with nods to the forest. Natural branches bring a touch of the outdoors into this well lived in space.
Lighthearted Rooms
Color, pattern and more color make this window seat a great space. I love the mix of patterns and the use of an old elephant stool - so charming!
Lighthearted Rooms Lamps
While the furnishings and art in this living room are more traditional and formal, the cheerful, bright palette of pastels makes the room feel anything but stuffy. The delicate chandelier and mismatched lamps bring touches of whimsy to the space along with the use of pinks, yellows and aquas.

lovely little things

Yesterday, I set out to find some new treasures for the ANT Etsy shop. Here are a few pictures I took of things found while I was thrifting and antiquing:

Brass Elephant Book Ends

Bedroom Set (Could someone please paint me?)

Mid Century Chair

 Greek Key Tray

Brass Wheat Sconces

Those sconces were beautiful and would look amazing on a black or navy wall.

And then there was this pretty little jacket that caught my eye at the Goodwill clearance center I stopped at. You really have to dig at that place...

Here are a few more brass beauties that I took home. I'm still sorting out what I want for myself and what I can let go and put in the shop.

Hope y'all are having a great Wednesday!

Wishlist Wednesday

I'd like some more sparkle in my life, and with that said, I'm currently in need of wanting a skirt with some bling.

How fun would one of these numbers be for a night out with the girls? I love the look. Our T.J. Maxx has a few of these fun minis in stock. I might need to go back and claim one. Or even better, maybe I can get my hands on a fully sequined dress. It would be the ultimate for holiday parties!

I do realize that just yesterday I shared my love for a good maxi. What is it with my skirt obsession these days? Are y'all feelin' it too?
