Happy Halloween

I enjoy this holiday much more now that I have children, that's for sure. Today, I'll be busy trying to keep the peace between Captain Hook and Peter Pan! We are hitting the road and going to Charleston for 5 days, and tonight, I'm taking the boys trick-or-treating in the neighborhood that I grew up in… here we come O.V.

I'll be sure to fill these two up with sugar and Halloween-inspired foods today, so follow my instagrams at @annaweaver to see what all we whip up.

I made Hudson's red vest (from a woman's pant suit jacket that I thrifted for $1) and Avery's entire Peter Pan costume (following this tutorial). Halfway through the project I vowed to never sew a costume again mainly because I just don't know what I'm doing… remind me next year to opt for a no sew project, ok? That sewing machine and I have a love-hate relationship.

on repeat

This is what this mommy's Fall uniform looks like.
Jeans + stripes + layered = done.

And ever since I saw these navy nails, I've wanted to try them out myself.

Today, it is freezing and windy outside, so I am hibernating with the boys.  We're making some of these for brunch… Mmmmm.

Stay warm folks!

Next Up: Small Shop Studio

Today, we are finding out what's next for Erika of Small Shop Studio. The girl has me thinking is there anything that she can't do? Her style is incredible, and her portfolio will leave you swooning. Everything that Erika puts together, whether it's a room or an outfit... it's always perfection. Her blog will be your new obsession. You're welcome. :)

my life as of late

Not only have I been enjoying the cooler weather outdoors with my family, I've been busy around our new house over the past week...

Painted the fireplace, and it looks a million times better, right?

I got the paint, and I'm finishing Avery's room this week. Navy walls!

Refinished this farm table and hung my chandelier...

And I took some time away for myself and got a massage. Much needed!
How was your week/weekend?

getting settled

We're getting settled into our new place, and I already love it! But in order to focus on my gigantic to-do list, I'm taking a week off from the ol' blog. I'll be back next week with the usual posts. Promise.

in my kitchen

Most every pot and pan is boxed up in our home at the moment, but despite the circumstances, I have been busy in the kitchen this week! With the cooler weather here over the past few days, I was left craving comfort food 24/7. I threw together a pot roast and a batch of my favorite pumpkin spice cookies with my boys. (Good thinking leaving the crock pot and baking sheet out.) Mmmm... both so delish!

I've felt a little under the weather, so I've been topping off my days with an evening cup of this. Oh, and I found a new coffee creamer that has fast become my very favorite of all time. I just finished my 1st container and am having a hard time tracking down some more. Withdrawals have set in...

I'm thinking hearty homemade soup and grilled cheese for dinner tonight. Simple and yummy. What are your favorite recipes to bring out this time of year?

And hey, I just realized it's 8:09 on 10/11/12... I'm weird. I know.

all in one day

Today, I decided to take a break from packing to get the boys out of the house. We began our morning with a stroll at The Riverwalk here in Columbia... so beautiful. Then we ventured over to the children's museum followed up by an afternoon trip to the zoo. Phew! I am exhausted. No naps calls for an early bedtime. For Mommy too, fingers crossed.

What are your hump day happenings?

dining room dreaming

We're moving in a little over 2 weeks, and I've been decorating our new home in my head. This is what I'm dreaming up our dining area to look like.  I've got it all except the rug. I need to decide whether or not I'm using a rug in the room. As pretty as this one is, I don't need one extra thing to keep clean with little ones running around. Feel me?

Regardless of rug or no rug... I'd love for you all to share suggestions for wall colors. My mind is going in a million directions.

Happy October

I cannot believe that October is here already. I love this time of year! From now until the new year, I'm happy, happy. I tend to listen to Christmas music for far too long, but I'll hold off on posting shopping lists until December. Promise.

I'm dreaming of a little alone time to catch up on some of my favorite blogs, while sipping on some seasonal hot tea. Sounds (and looks) like a dream, right?

Nothing too exciting to share today, as I'm getting back into the swing of things after a long weekend home in Charleston to shoot a wedding. Now, I just need to get into packing mode... maybe I'll start tomorrow.

Leaving you with a few snapshots of my life as of late:

Hope you all had a great weekend. Check back tomorrow for "The Next" with Natalie!
