$3 necklace

I scored this necklace for 50 cents at a flea market a couple of weeks ago...

I wasn't sure if I wanted to hang stones or something different, but when I came across these spikes at Hobby Lobby, my decision was quickly made. Plus, I used their 40% off coupon, so this was cheap, cheap!

You likey?

Hope you're enjoying your Saturday, wherever you are. Gotta go find my small gold rings to complete this project... I'm out.

come rain, come shine

We've had the most beautiful weather over the past couple of days. I hope it's here to stay! But, just in case we begin experiencing those expected April showers, I've dreamed up my ideal rainy day getup with a few May flowers. :)

As always, I'm linking up with the lovely ladies over at Long Distance Loving for Friday's Fancies.

my ombré hair

I did it. I officially have ombré hair. I wanted something new for Spring, and this seemed like the perfect option. I love having long hair, but I knew that if I messed up / didn't like the end result that I could cut it, worst case scenario. Also, ombré is as low maintenance as you allow it to be, and I can let it grow out (or cut it out) whenever I'm over it.

I have never done anything like this, so understand how brave I feel for not only trying it but having my DIY dye job turn out successfully. I have a reddish tone to my natural color, so I knew that my hair would look a little brassier than I wanted. But hey, I like it. It was only $10, and I got to keep my long hair. So, I can't really complain...

For those of you that are interested, I used a Revlon Frost & Glow kit.

need your help

Royal Design Studio has some beautiful stencils, and I'm having a hard time settling on which one I am going to order. I've narrowed it down to my favorite 3 wallpaper stencils. Help!

Comment with the # that you like the best, please and thank you!

Tuula

Jessica Stein has got it going on. Fo' sho'!

Wearing: Tibi skirt, Maje knit, Theory hat, Vintage clutch, Zara heels, Michael Kors watch and Jacquie  Aiche ring.

Wearing: Carl Kapp dress as skirt, Miss Unkon top, Asos clutch, Zara heels.

On a drizzling summer day last weekend I played muse to good friend Zanita. Apart from her enviable, oozing talent of model turned photographer she is part ofHarpers Bazaar Australia’s Style Network. I can’t express how flexible the right maxi skirt can be for a wardrobe- especially effortless summer dressing. This insanely stunning piece by Carl Kapp is muted class, with adjustable wrap making for endless shapes and fluid movement.

Today, I am sharing my current likes and dislikes over at the blog of Michaela Noelle Designs. Be sure to go take a look at my contribution to her "She Likes Me, She Likes Me Not" series!

back to it

I've been spending some extra special time with my man this weekend. We went away to a marriage conference at our church, and it was IN-credible!

Getting my ducks in a row, now. I'll be blogging like normal tomorrow. Hope you all had a great weekend!

lamp dreamin'

Last night, I dreamed about a lamp. That's right... the entire dream (or what I remember about it) revolved completely around the beautiful Delta table lamp by Robert Abbey.

Now, I'm thinking... only in my dreams. Literally.

Spring 2012 Family Portraits

I am in love with the images that my very talented friend, Matt, captured of our family last weekend while we were in Florida. Matt and I used to shoot weddings together, so I had complete confidence that he could bring out the real "us." I am the queen bee in a home full of boys, and I wouldn't have it any other way!!

Such authentic emotion here... Enjoy!

I adore those 3 boys of mine... can you tell?

favorite jewelry sources

Frieda and Nellie
Where friendship bracelets meet rhinestones... all unique and uber fun.
I've known Hyla for years and her talent amazes me. I drool over each and every statement piece she creates!

Gilt
These beauties sold out before I could snag a pair at $30. So, I'll just have to get my fix here.

I am confident in saying that I am one of Gaby's biggest fans. Love her, her blog and her jewels: Charlotte, Chantal, Sienna and I should all become good friends in the near future :)

With Your Heart
I grew up with and was neighbors with Harriet, one of the 2 girls behind With Your Heart. It is a great source for chic jewelry at wholesale prices. Plus, each piece you purchase provides 1 day of food, education, and medical care to a foreign child in need. Spread the love and pass the word on! They also have frequent flash sales where their reasonably priced pieces are marked WAY down. So go like them on the 'book and shop away...

floral + stripes

I did as Chassity asked and submitted to her an example of my mixing prints… I raided my closet and this is what I came up with. Go check it out at Look Linger Love with other fun and inspiring combinations!

here and there

There have been many changes around our house over the past few weeks. Here are just a couple of my favorites:

I finally bit the bullet and got my kitchen chairs!

Avery got a new crib -- the one I really wanted.

Also, I ordered this marbleized paper to frame and hang in the guest bedroom:
And the highlight of this past weekend was finding a pair of these campaign chests at the local flea market. I talked the guy down to $9 a piece, due to their condition. They are in dire need of some serious TLC, but I know the perfect spot for them in Hudson's room. I'm thinking of keeping them side by side to create a long dresser. In the meantime, have any tricks on how to get rid of the mothball stench?

Oh, and do you all remember those leopard loafers I ordered last month? Well, they ran HUGE. By the time I received the shipment, the size I needed was sold out. They really looked cheap in person too, double whammy. So, last week my best friend out in Texas called to let me know about these. Perfect price and the exact look I wanted… with that black piping!! They aren't fur, but I think they'll be more easily worn year-round. They are on super sale, so grab 'em while you can. (They also come in cobaltpatent leather. Cute, cute!)

Anyway, I digress.

Lastly, the bfrend bracelet giveaway winner happens to be my "real life" friend, Jessamie of Bird and Branch Redesign! Lucky lady.

I think you all are up to speed now. Hope everyone had a great weekend!
