Carolina Pottery Faves

If you are lucky enough to live by one of the 4 Carolina Pottery stores, like me, then you should go check it out soon. You really have to search for hidden treasures in the store, but the hunt is the fun part to me!

Paint this fun sunburst mirror any color...

LOVE this ikat pillow! It is even filled with a down insert.

This lamp is made of carved wood... I love it!

Treasures along the way...

On my way to Savannah this week, I stopped at a Goodwill while passing through Walterboro. I picked up a couple of good finds...

These ceramic black horse head bookends:

This cute brass dish with quatrefoil cut-outs and peacock engraving:

And this crystal clock that pulls off the look of being more like a standing lucite watch:

It will sit pretty on my new parsons desk.

AND I only spent $6 on all 3 items combined. Talk about a GREAT deal. I'm a happy picker.

Olive Leaf Stencils

Olive Leaf Stencils is one of my favorite recent discoveries. I'd like to get a stencils to use on an accent wall, and I'm also looking to paint our bedroom drapes with it. I'm leaning toward the 1st one shown below especially if using it for drapes, but the ikat is much more expensive (of course). Do y'all know of any other companies or other places to check for some inexpensive stencils like I've posted below?

Picasso knock off

I was in need of some modern art to fill up my bookcases that Brett made for me, so I began my search on the world wide web. I came across 1 of Picasso's one-liner drawings online that looked easy enough to recreate myself. After about 5 tries, I got it.

Now, it sits proudly next to some of my favorite Waverly fabric framed & an old piece of drift wood.

If you try it too, let me know. I want to see your art!

Chalkoholic

You know how some people claim to have a good side and a bad side when looking in the mirror or taking a picture? Well Hudson's train table had the same issue. The good side...

and the bad side...

I used some chalkboard paint, and it quickly covered all of that up.

Here it is now! I think I might like the chalkboard side better than the solid white on the other side. I'm pretty sure I'm having more fun with it than Hudson though.

Told you...

The toy box even got a new look.

I think I might be addicted to the whole chalkboard paint thing. The day after I completed the playroom projects, I went and repainted my husband's accent wall in his office with chalkboard paint. It might be the greatest thing I've ever done.

The chalkboard wall is perfect for writing "To-Do" lists and leaving messages. I wrote "take a seat" with an arrow pointing down to the couch in his office too. How fun is that?!

My friend Eileen is even keeping her eye open for me and texted me a picture of these at our local TJ's the other day. They are WAY greater in person with intricate stitching and beadwork.

I'm not sold on any of them, but I'm going to have to make a decision/settle on one soon. Ughhhh...

Finding Fabric

We've all seen Chiang Mai Dragon made by Schumacher. Aquamarine is my favorite!

No matter how many times I see this fabric, I still love it. However, this beautiful and pricey fabric is not in the budget. I absolutely love the color scheme and am in need of something similar. So the hunt begins...

herbs

Planting an herb garden has been on my to-do list for a couple of years now, and my husband surprised me with this beautiful arrangement in the backyard a couple days ago for our anniversary. It was the perfect surprise. Because we rent our home, Brett found the most unique old wooden boat-looking container to use as a planter. It had a previous life in Asia and is one of a kind! This planter enables my garden to come with us wherever we move in the future. I could not be happier!

I'd like to have a label for each herb. Here are some ideas:

{1, 2, 3}

No green thumb here! So, naturally I'm a little nervous about my herb garden making it past week 1. Any pointers, pass 'em on this way.

Flea Market Finds

Yesterday, I hit up the 2 flea markets in my area. I came home with these fabulous finds:

My very own Venus de Milo... it was seriously love at first sight!

2 Vintage Chartreuse Koi Fish Vases that I may use as book ends...

1 yard of this Fabric for $0.50!

And I passed up one of these Porcelain Blue Sitting Foo Dogs. The price just wasn't right for the condition that the one I found was in.

Hazelnut New Orleans Ceramic Sitting Foo Dogs - photo

One of my friends that came with me beat me to this treasure. If I had spotted it first, I would have snatched up this 1930's Double Horse Head Vase in a heartbeat!

We stopped at a local thrift store before calling it a day, and I spotted this Small Malachite Dish. Needless to say, it came home with me.
