my weekend

Thanksgiving was amazing. I managed to make my 1st turkey, complete with all the trimmings without flaw. I gave myself a good ol' pat on the back and then cleaned up while everyone took a nap.

It is a family tradition to get our 1st Christmas present on Thanksgiving day, and I got my monogram necklace!!! YAY!

Black Friday was very low key for us. There was no 4 a.m. shopping for me this year. However, we did brave the crazy shopping crowds in the early afternoon hours and managed to get a few good deals.

This is what my Saturday looked like… shooting a wedding in Charleston.

And, in other news the Lulu & Drew winner is Eileen from A Creative Day. Congrats!

*P.S. Be sure to enter this week's giveaway from ISWAS+WILLBE!

Feast your eyes

Today and every day, I have so much to be grateful for, truly. You all are one of the many things that I am giving thanks for today. Each of your sweet comments make my world a little happier, so thank you for taking the time to write me and follow my little bloggity blog.

I am hosting Thanksgiving dinner for the 1st time this year. I feel as though this is a rite of passage… I am officially an adult now, right?  Our best friends flew in from Dallas, making this year's holiday extra special. Just the 4 of us with our little boys, gathered around the table, giving thanks… perfect.

I'll leave you with this fun layer -- perfect for a day full of turkey eating. Cooler weather got here just in the nick of time!

Happy Thanksgiving! Gobble, gobble.

Best mac & cheese ever!

Trust me, you will want to make this for Thanksgiving this year (and every year from here on out). It's a family recipe and favorite of anyone I make it for. It is TO DIE FOR. You can thank me later.

Ingredients:
1 8 oz box of macaroni (cooked al dente)
1 tall can (14 or 15 oz) evaporated milk
1 1/2 C milk
1 tsp. salt
garlic pepper (to taste)
1 1/2 tsp. dried mustard
2 C sharp cheddar cheese, grated
1 C medium cheddar cheese, grated
1/4 C butter
2 eggs

Cook the macaroni until it is almost done, drain and put back in pot. Add 1/2 stick of butter in. Mix until all noodles are coated. Mix all of the other ingredients together in a separate bowl -- add the mix to the buttered noodles. Pour all of this into a lightly greased crock pot or casserole dish.

Cook in the crock pot on low for 4-5 hrs. OR heat the oven to 350 degrees for ~45 min. Cook until it's not loose but more "compact", so it will be easy to spoon out.

{Let me know if you try it!}
